sunday am. china right here. no reason to go to beijing.

made plans with mom & dad to meet at rock-n-roll mcdonalds on ontario/ohio. of course, our plans changed.
it's been awhile since we have made a trip to chinatown. i know my parents like to go early to chinatown so i was half awake for the 6:30 am phone call from dad.
conversation with dad ...
dad: 'you are not awake yet? it's almost 6:45!'
me: 'i thought we are meeting at 8:30! i'm gonna wake up at 7 and we'll be out of the house at 7:30..we'll get there by 8 -8:30'
dad: 'uhh..ok.. the restaurant opens at 8 ...you will go straight..you will get there by or before 8:30'

our local haunt is no longer there ... so we decide to meet across at this restaurant that to my parents tell me they have been coming to for a long time. shui wah restaurant.
we get there about 8:30 am. rock star parking!
chinatown is a hike for us and i hate searching for parking. so not having to spend 20 min just looking for parking was awesome!

mom snapped this picture.

dad already ordered so we didn't wait for the food at all.

me: 'mmmmm....GOLDEN GATE!'

kuya bernard (chuckling): 'hey dettie... i didn't think you remembered the name of the restaurant!'

of course, i remembered.

we used to go to golden gate restaurant when we were kids. usually on a saturday, we would pick up mom from work and head on down to chinatown. always tried to park in the same area. usually served by the same guy. always smoky from the old chinese men hanging out smoking cigarettes. dark brown paneling. weird looking orange trees near the front window. usual order: shui mai, siao pao, meatballs, & milk.

that's what I liked about Coco's because there shui mai tasted like golden gate's.

chicken feet ...i usually don't eat but these were tasty.

i would definitely go here again.

i wouldn't mind going here for thanksgiving.
