i've been wanting to check out arlington park race track for awhile now. just me and the kids went. my mahal had no interest. we went together a long time ago ...so i think that was enough experience for him. but since it's been a long time, it's like a new experience for me.
i was pleasantly surprised. it's a little intimidating at first because the grounds are beautiful. ...and it's a little on the bougie side. i almost felt like a peasant coming into the castle to see how the upper class enjoy their weekend.
i parked far (far parking lot = free)
I bought a general admission ticket for me ($7.00) .. i don't think they charged me for AJ and baby girl was free.
there are signs that say 'no outside food or drink' ...a lot of no this and no that.
but i noticed that a lot of people were picnicking.
they brought their own food/drink/wagons/ picnic blankets.
you can buy your food there ...but a hot dog costs $6.75. yikes!
it's kinda weird to see parents asking their kids what horse they want to bet on.
also i saw a lot of alcohol consumption and cigar smoking.
it's like ...advocating gambling/boozing/smoking.
otherwise it's nice to see the horses run while you picnic.
